Van Halen

Cyndy and I attended a Van Halen reunion concert several days ago. While I don't claim to be a concert photographer by any means, I was pretty happy with this!

Richelle and Adam

We had a fun engagement session today! Wintery scenes outside and more in the comfort of a warm studio! Richelle is a past senior client - they're getting married next July! Congratulations!

New York City?

We were creating some of Jessica's senior portraits downtown today when we came upon some guys working near this fire escape. They asked if we wanted to use it! Heck yeah we do! So they pulled it down and our fearless and intrepid model Jessica scampered up two stories above the alley for a cool urban look. Don't look down Jessica! ;-)

60 years!

We met a great couple this morning - Harold and Pat will be married for 60 years tomorrow, and they're commemorating this milestone with portraiture for their home! They eloped to Las Vegas in 1947 (when there wasn't much there) and got married by a judge, and they've lived in the same home for 55 years!

Campaign for real beauty

If you haven't seen this video yet, take a look at where some of our ideals about beauty and fashion might come from...

Happy Veterans Day!

Keeping Up Appearances

One of the jobs of a professional photographer is to make everyday scenes look interesting. During Alyssa's senior portrait session yesterday we stopped by the McKinley Park Center. I like to think that this treatment makes an old school that was built in 1911 look like a medieval fortress!

Happy Halloween!

The fall color pallette that the city of Reno has provided this year has been spectacular. Some of it is as good as you get in New England - and I've compared! Here is a sampling of the kinds of images we've been creating over the past few days...

The amber of Autumn

I created this last week on our annual pilgrimmage to the fall colors of the Eastern Sierra.

Summer Days...

... are leaving us behind, but we're trying to extend them as much as possible! Here's a super-cool image we created yesterday afternoon with the Lawson family at their home. I was going for a Norman Rockwell type of feel. We even got the family dog and cat in there! Wish I could display it larger for you here on Blogger!

Bright and early Monday morning!

Jonealle visited us this morning from Fallon for her senior portraits! She even braved the chilly temperatures for a dip in the river! She's looking forward to a medical career after graduation.

Fun and meaningful portraits were created at our studio yesterday of Melissa and her two children. This black and white image is from our series of images called Relationship Portraiture.

Nice Kitty

I took my little boy out to Animal Ark for the first time this past weekend - an added bonus to the animals were the air race planes flying about!

I took this image of our local Civil War plot on Sept. 11. Did you know that Reno has it's own Civil War-era cemetery? It's up near UNR.

Air Races

We visited the Reno Air Races on Sunday - my second year doing so. Great fun even if you're not a "plane" person. Here's my image of the Canadian Snowbirds, plus a fun one of my buddy Scott...

Here are some images from Lauren's senior session today. Her parents own Reno Harley Davidson - so some images with a cruiser (mine!) are definitely in order! We also photographed her sister last year. Street Vibrations will be here shortly!

Fun Sessions today

This morning we went to Michon's house in Palomino Valley for her senior portraits. We love photographing our subjects with horses!
Then we photographed Garrett this afternoon in the studio - wonderful images!

Boys will be boys

We got to visit with a couple of great young men this morning - Spencer and Riley! They look very presidential in their tuxedos and we made some wonderful portraits!

Sending him off for an edjimication

Wow - yesterday was the first day of first grade for our little boy! Both a happy time and a weepy time - only you parents that have been there know! He's adjusting well after only two days. So are mommy and daddy! And yes, even professional photographers have snapshots! ;-)
What's with this dry spell? No measurable precipitation since June 5? At least there have been no portrait session rainouts, but geesh, can SOMEONE please do a raindance?

From a couple of trips made over the years...

Our studio building included in a new book.

Our studio is included in this new book and is available at areas stores such as Sundance Bookstore, Amazon. com and others. Pages 66-67. This is a fine reference for those interested in the history of our local architecture (like myself!) I took it upon myself last winter to document many historic buildings in our area, and like this example was able to restore them to their former glory.
This is the old NCO (Nevada California Oregon) Depot building on 4th Street near downtown. I have included one of my "before images" and a final version - a lot can be accomplished with modern technology! Here's another of my favorites:

This is one of the coolest signs in Reno IMHO. You just have to love that old 30's or 40's cruiser still chugging it's way down old Highway 40! Alas, the heyday of Motel Americana has fallen victim to the past - but we still have reminders of this simpler time - reminds me alot of Route 66 and the nostalgia that goes along with it.
